For large number of racers UHF-based timing system is recommended.
For mountain bike races, the chip is affixed to the back side of the race number, for road cycling tournaments the chip is affixed to the chain stay (Sticker). Because of the low cost of the chip, in the end of the competition is not necessary to collect the chips and deposit taking is not necessary either.
The timing system is reliable even if the numbers of the participants are over thousands, and the cyclists speed are fast. A single UHF timing point size is 9 or 4.5 meters wide. For wider timing point (ex.: 18m) is necessary to use multiple timing system.
